Matt Levin
Co-Founder and Managing Partner

Matt Levin is Co-Founder and Co-Managing Partner at Verity Venture Partners, an early-stage consumer-focused investment firm. Verity Venture Partners invests in purpose-driven entrepreneurs who are building the next generation of great consumer companies, including emerging brands and the technologies that enable them.  Prior to co-founding Verity Venture Partners, Matt spent over 27 years with Bain Capital, LP.  He served as a Senior Advisor in its private equity business from 2016 through September 2019.  From 2001 through 2015, Matt was a Managing Director in the firm’s private equity business where he co-led the North America consumer products and retail industry vertical.  He also led several professional development programs for the private equity business as well as regularly served on private equity investment and portfolio management committees.

Prior to joining Bain Capital in 1992, Matt was a consultant at Bain & Company, where he consulted in the consumer products and manufacturing industries.

Matt most recently served on the public board of Michaels Stores Inc., a $5.4 billion omnichannel crafts retailer, through April 2021 and continues to serve on the Board of Directors of the Boston Celtics.  He has held numerous other corporate board seats over the course of his thirty-year professional career. 

Matt also serves on the board of New Profit, a pioneering venture philanthropy organization that invests in breakthrough social entrepreneurs to drive transformative change, as well as a member of UC Berkeley’s Board of Visitors, Capital Strategies Committee and Haas School of Business Advisory Board.

Matt received a B.S. in Business Administration from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley in 1988 and in 1996 he received his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker Scholar.
